This is going to be a collection of crazy, funny, insightful, and inspirational stories that I have collected over time. I have been traveling around the world for the last 12 years! It’s crazy that it has already been that long. I have not been very good at writing down and sharing the experiences that I’ve had along the way and I thought it was high time to do something about that. For the last few years many friends have urged me to use my writing gift more regularly. Until now I lacked the motivation and the inspiration to commit to something regularly.
I’m hoping to bring you all along on the journey with me. I’m excited to gain more writing proficiency and to potentially, in the future, make a living off of pairing what I love with what I am good at. Here goes nothing.
Currently, I am living in Whangarei, New Zealand! Last July there was another big life transition. It put me in the position, yet again where I could go anywhere or do anything. I was seeking out where I was going to be investing in community over the next season of life. I make all of my “Where am I going to live?” decisions based on relationship. As I traveled to connect with friends in various countries around the world I was wrestling with the question of what I was doing with my life. This is not all that uncommon for me as I seem to only spend a few years, at most, in any one city before feeling the stirring to move on. My first stop on that trip around the world(literally) was here, in New Zealand.
When I arrived here last year, I felt instantly at home. The church community here that I was visiting felt like family and welcomed me into community life. This country has been on my heart for years. In December, after I had already purchased my ticket to move here, I found a list of dreams I had written down in 2009, and live in NZ was #21 on the list! I had totally forgotten that I had written that down. The timing to come over had never seemed to work out, until now. I’m so excited to see what else God has in store for me over the next few months.
I have been in Whangarei since the beginning of February and it has been beautiful so far. Both the places I’m getting to explore and the relationships I’m building are top notch. What an incredible opportunity to enjoy this special nation.
